Ultraman Figures From Mego Corporation Announced in Licensing Deal

Mego Corporation has acquired licensing rights to produce action figures based on the original and anime incarnations of Ultraman.

Mego Corporation, the original manufacturer of superhero action figures such as those based on Marvel and DC properties, will now be producing Ultraman action figures based on the original show and the Netflix anime of the same name. This partnership between Mego Corporation and Tsuburaya Productions came about by working with The Licensing Group which is a company specializing foreign licensing and which represents Ultraman properties.

The currently announced Ultraman figures will be 8” and 14” figures inspired by the original Ultraman and the Netflix anime’s version of Ultraman. The first upcoming figure in this line will be, according to Mego, “reminiscent of the rare vintage POPY Ultraman figure, but made with true Mego quality.”

This partnership between Mego, The Licensing Group, and Tuburaya Productions is the latest move to expand the reach of the Ultraman series globally. Last August, Tsuburaya announced a global expansion for the Ultraman series following the international release of Netflix’s Ultraman. Since then, Mill Creek has announced several Ultraman home releases including their most recent release, an Ultraman Ginga bundle including the full series, sequel series, movie, and mini-series. The official Ultraman YouTube channel has also been making its weekly “Stay At Home With Ultraman” campaign episode releases available globally with English subtitles.

According to Mego’s official announcement of this partnership, the first Ultraman action figure from Mego Corporation is expected to be revealed soon with a planned release in the Fall.
