Funimation Announces Rurouni Kenshin Live-Action Trilogy Home Release Dates
Funimation announces the subsequent DVD / Blu-ray release dates for the popular live-action Rurouni Kenshin film trilogy.
The official announcement for the Rurouni Kenshin Part I: Origins release occurred at this past Otakon in Baltimore. Pre-orders opened in August and the DVD / Blu-ray / UV combo pack is now widely available for purchase on Funimation’s official website as well as on Amazon. It includes special features such as cast interviews, deleted scenes, and a making-of featurette.
A Funimation email announcement listed the subsequent release dates for the remaining two films, Part II: Kyoto Inferno and Part III: The Legend Ends.
Kyoto Inferno will be released on December 6, 2016 and The Legend Ends will be released January 3, 2017.
The Kyoto Inferno special features also include cast interviews and special TV spots and the Legend Ends will include footage from film events as well as additional TV spots. They are also available to pre-order on both Funimation’s website and on Amazon.
The Rurouni Kenshin live-action film adaptation stars former Kamen Rider Den-O lead, Takeru Sato, as Kenshin Himura and Emi Takei as Kaoru Kamiya. The first film also included former tokusatsu alum, Koji Kikkawa, who formerly played Kamen Rider Skull from Kamen Rider W. The second film added Ryosuke Miura, formerly Ankh from Kamen Rider OOO.
