New Poster For Rurouni Kenshin The Final/The Beginning Revealed

New poster showcases returning cast alongside Kamen Rider Den-O‘s Takeru Satoh as Kenshin Himura


Warner Bros. Japan has revealed the first cast poster for the two upcoming Rurouni Kenshin movies this summer, entitled Rurouni Kenshin: The Final and Rurouni Kenshin: The Beginning. The new poster showcases main cast members Takeru Satoh as Kenshin Himura, Emi Takei as Kaoru Kamiya, Munetaka Aoki as Sanosuke Sagara, Yu Aoi as Megumi Takani and Yosuke Eguchi as Saitoh Hajime. Along with the poster comes confirmation of the return of Ryosuke Miura as Cho Sawagejo, Tao Tsuchiya as Misao Makimachi, and Yusuke Iseya as Aoshi Shinomori. Riku Onishi joins the cast as Yahiko Myojin, replacing Kaito Oyagi from the previous films.

As for the new characters set to be introduced in the two films, Kasumi Arimura has been cast as Tomoe Yukishiro, Kenshin’s tragic first love and the older sister of the villainous Enishi Yukishiro, played by Mackenyu. Additionally, Takuma Otoo has been cast as Woo Heishin, Enishi’s second-in-command and Shanghai crime lord. For Rurouni Kenshin: The Beginning, veteran actor Kazuki Kitamura has been cast as Tatsumi, leader of a group that attempted to assassinate Kenshin during the Bakumatsu.

In addition to the Rurouni Kenshin trilogy, fans of tokusatsu know Satoh best as the main character Ryotaro Nogami in 2007’s Kamen Rider Den-O. He has since gone on to become a successful actor, appearing in several live-action movies such as BECKInuyashiki, and Bakuman to name a fewSatoh recently made a surprise return to the franchise in 2018 with Kamen Rider Zi-O‘s winter movie, Kamen Rider Heisei Generations FOREVER. Mackenyu has previously played Eiji Tomari in Kamen Rider Drive: Surprise Future. and was later cast as Ryoichi in 2018’s Pacific Rim; Uprising. Although known for his roles in Sazer-X and Kamen Rider Decade, Miura is best known for his portrayal of Ankh in 2010’s Kamen Rider OOO. After an absence of six years, Miura reprised the role in 2017’s Kamen Rider Heisei Generations Final alongside costar Shu Watanabe. Kitamura has starred in numerous series and movies, including Godzilla: Final Wars, Akihabara @DEEP, Like A Dragon and Blade of the Immortal, to name a few.

The first three movies, which were released between 2012 and 2014, went on to gross 12.5 billion yen at the Japanese box office. In 2016, the films were released by Funimation in the United States as Rurouni Kenshin: Origins, Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno and Rurouni Kenshin: The Legend Ends respectively. As with the previous films, the band ONE OK ROCK will provide the singles for both upcoming movies.

Rurouni Kenshin: The Final will hit theaters across Japan on July 3, 2020, and Rurouni Kenshin: The Beginning will open on August 7, 2020.
