Hikari Mitsushima and Takeru Satoh to Co-Star in New Netflix Series

The two veteran tokusatsu actors will star in a drama inspired by Hikaru Utada’s song, “First Love.”

On December 3 it was announced that Hikari Mitsushima and Takeru Satoh would be costars in the Netflix Original Series. Named after the song by Hikaru Utada, the series will track the two lead characters from the moment of their first love in the 1990s to the modern day, spanning 20 years of their lives together. The series will be directed by Yuri Kanchiku. Hikari Mitsushima will play the role of Yae Noguchi, who aspires to be a flight attendant but is unable to due to an accident, while Takeru Satoh will play Harumichi Namiki, who was on track to be a pilot in the Japan ese Air Self-Defense Force, but ended up on a different path.

When asked during a cross talk for their opinions on the series, Mitsushima said, “I suggested Takeru Satoh to play the role of Harumichi Namiki. I haven’t done many love stories, so I wanted a casting that would make me excited!” Satoh said, “I was wondering what the other party was thinking, so when Mistushima said earlier ‘I’ve decided!’ I felt relieved and happy.”

Hikari Mistushima has had roles in Ultraman Max as Elly and Kamen Rider Den-O as Yuka Sawada. Takeru Satoh starred in Kamen Rider Den-O as Ryotaro Nogami and Rurouni Kenshin as the eponymous Kenshin Himura.

First Love will be released in 2022.
