The Toei Tokusatsu Fan Club announced on April 16, 2022, that a new Kamen Rider OOO spinoff is releasing this summer.

OOO 10th Kamen Rider Birth: Birth X Origins focuses on Kamen Rider Birth after the events of Kamen Rider OOO 10th: Core Medal of Resurrection. Toei Tokusatsu Fan Club (TTFC) claims that the special explores the secrets behind Kamen Rider Birth X, the new form used by Gotou Shintaro (Asaya Kimijima) in the Core Medal of Resurrection movie.

The special is releasing on TTFC this summer. A specific release date has not been given. Also, it is being treated as a V-Cinext like the other OOO 10th movie.

Kamen Rider Birth typically uses objects called cell medals to transform, but by using a special attachment and certain core medals, Shintaro was able to evolve and become Kamen Rider Birth X.

In addition to focusing on the secrets surrounding the Birth X form, Hina Izumi (Takada Riho) will be using the OOO Driver to transform. In the series and movies, Hina never became a Kamen Rider, although she did physically assist several people with their transformations.

Cast and Crew

Much of the OOO cast will be returning for Birth X Origins, including Eiji Hino (Shu Watanabe), Ankh (Ryosuke Miura), Akira Date (Hiroaki Iwanaga) and Erika Satonaka (Mayuko Arisue).

Ryuta Tasaki is directing the special. Tasaki was the director for Kamen Rider OOO and many other tokusatsu series like Hikonin Sentai Akibaranger and Kamen Rider Ryuki. The screenplay is by Nobuhiro Mori who has worked on screenplays for series like Kamen Rider Revice and Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger. Both Tasaki and Mori worked on Core Medal of Resurrection.

The theme song for the special is “Anything Goes! Happy 10th Ver.” and is sung by Eiji, Hina and Ankhs’ actors. This seems to be an inverse of the melancholic version of the song that appeared in Core Medal of Resurrection. The song is included in the “50th Anniversary Song Best Box” that goes on sale on June 8, 2022.

CSM Birth Driver

A CSM Birth Driver is being released to go along with the release of the TTFC special. The CSM Birth Driver will come with the X Unit which allows Shintaro to access the Birth X power-up form. The specific release date and other details about the CSM Birth Driver will be published on Premium Bandai’s website at a later date.

The CSM Birth Driver is not being sold outside of Japan at this time. Overseas fans can use From Japan to purchase exclusive tokusatsu merchandise. Click here for our guide to using From Japan.
