Super Sentai 45th Anniversary Movie Wars Announced

The upcoming anniversary movie will feature the Zenkaigers, Kiramagers, Gokaigers, and more along with the full cast of Kamen Rider Saber.

Toei released new exclusive information via press release on the upcoming Super Sentai 45th anniversary movie. After many years of “Movie Wars” films from Toei, fans should not be surprised that the upcoming movie will be set up as a massive crossover featuring the new Transformers-inspired Kikainoid villain, Professor Megatron.

The full title of the upcoming movie is Super Sentai x Super Sentai: Professor Megatron VS Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger & Kiramager Super Duper Movie Wars 45th Anniversary All-Out Match Plus Gokaiger & Gorenger Fight to Save the Gear Worlds Featuring Kamen Rider Saber & The Sword of Logos with Kikaider Part 1.

This new film seeks to honor the legacy of Super Sentai by uniting the Zenkaigers and Kiramagers with two legendary Super Sentai teams, the Gokaigers, and Gorengers. The entire main cast of Kamen Rider Saber will also appear when their world is captured in a gear. Finally, Kikaider will appear to draw a connection between robot heroes of the past and present. All these heroes will lend their power to Zenkaizer and his team as they take on Professor Megatron, an evil scientist Kikainoid who can take the form of a tank.

The film will be directed by Hollywood tokusatsu fan James Gunn, known for his work on Guardians of the Galaxy and the upcoming Suicide Squad movie. He provided the following comment in Toei’s press release:

“I’m honored to be working on a franchise with such a rich history. Producer Shirakura reached out for the opportunity following last year’s premiere of Kamen Rider Hesei Generations Forever during which I tweeted about my love for the series. I was kind of hoping to work on a Kamen Rider movie, but hey at least I got to bring in the full cast of Saber.

I’m so proud to be assembling such a historic ensemble cast. It feels like I’m working on my own Avengers movie. Take that, Russo brothers!

Super Sentai x Super Sentai is going all out for the anniversary, and I’m especially excited because I finally get to tap back into the energy I had when writing the screenplay for the live action Scooby-Doo movies! (Ruh-roh)”

Writing the script will be Quentin Tarantino. Producer Shirakura provided this comment on his involvement:

“I really liked Kill Bill and asked Mr. Tarantino to write our script. He accepted after a few drinks.”

Super Sentai x Super Sentai will star the core cast of Kikai Sentai ZenkaigerMashin Sentai Kiramager, and Kamen Rider Saber. The voices of the full Gokaiger cast will return, and special cameo appearances by Jason David Frank, Amy Jo Johnson, and Elizabeth Banks will be included. Shirakura on their inclusion:

“I thought it would be neat if the world of Power Rangers was trapped in one of the Tojiru Gears. Since we’re honoring all of Super Sentai history, we would be remiss to exclude our friends from the US.”

Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland are also expected to reprise their roles as various versions of Spider-Man alongside Shinji Todo as Toei’s version of Spider-Man, the original user of a Sentai-style robot.

“Like I said, we’re honoring ALL of Super Sentai history. The entire world is Super Sentai. We’re also bringing in the new Hollywood version of Godzilla, Shin Ultraman, and of course Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter. I don’t know why, but he appeared on set one day.”

Team TokuNet reached out to Tom Holland for comment, and he had this to say:

“What? You really read this to the end…? Haven’t you seen the date, you fools?”

Super Sentai x Super Sentai: Professor Megatron VS Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger & Kiramager Super Duper Movie Wars 45th Anniversary All-Out Match Plus Gokaiger & Gorenger Fight to Save the Gear Worlds Featuring Kamen Rider Saber & The Sword of Logos with Kikaider Part 1 is coming to Disney+ with Premier Access on April 1st, 1973.
