The Netflix anime series unveils the first look at Ultraman Taro and his voice actor, Tatsuhisa Suzuki
In preparation for the second season of the Netflix CG animated ULTRAMAN series, voice actor and lead singer for OLDCODEX Tatsushisa Suzuki has been revealed as the voice for Ultraman Taro. In the manga, Kotaro Higashi is a photographer who accidentally gains superpowers after an altercation with aliens, leading him to fashion his own homemade version of the traditional Ultraman Taro costume before receiving an upgraded version, which you can see teased in the video below. Speaking on his acceptance of the role, Suzuki was quoted as saying,
I will be joining the series as Ultraman Taro. While reading the original comic, I had wondered how they were going to breathe life into Taro, who has a charming personality, strong will, and vigor and burns like the sun, and that’s when I got the offer.
Now that I have been cast, I hope that I can convey my burning passion through my voice. Please stay tuned. I am excited to exceed everyone’s expectations.
Debuting in 2019, the anime is adapted from the 2011 ULTRAMAN manga which served as a direct sequel to the original 1966 Ultraman series. Set several years after the events of the original series, the anime focuses on Shinjiro Hayata, the teenage son of Shin Hayata, the original host of Ultraman. When a new alien threat appears, it is up to Shinjiro to follow in his father’s footsteps and become the latest hero of light, Ultraman. Season 1 is available to watch now on Netflix worldwide. The series began broadcast on Tokyo MX and BS 11 in April with the opening theme “Sight Over The Battle” provided by OLDCODEX.
