Heisei Kamen Rider Movie Revival Screening Event Held

A special screening event was held for the Kamen Rider W and 555 summer movies.

This past week, Toei held their Heisei Kamen Rider Movie Revival Screening Event in Shibuya. The event was held over two nights on February 16th and 17th, 2019. The films were decided based on a poll of fans voicing their opinions on which “movie you want to support” and “movie you want to see on screen again.”

The first night’s feature was the 2010 film Kamen Rider W Forever: A to Z/The Gaia Memories of Fate, having been decided as the movie you want to support”The special guests for the screening were the film’s director Koichi Sakamoto, writer Riku Sanjo, and producer Hideaki Tsukada. Sakamoto reflected on filming the movie and how it still excited him to watch even after almost 10 years.

The second night was for the winner of the “movie you want to see on screen again,” which was 2003’s Kamen Rider 555: Paradise Lost. Fans were treated to the appearance of producer Shinichiro Shirakura and the film’s star, Kento Handa, who played Takumi Inui/ Kamen Rider Faiz. The screening was well received by fans, who felt the movie was still impressive, despite its age.

Handa was most recently seen reprising his role in a two episode stint on the currently airing Kamen Rider Zi-O.
