Legendary Tokusatsu Actor Masashi Ishibashi Passes Away

The actor had appeared in three early Super Sentai series.

Masahi Ishibashi, who appeared in JAKQ Dengeki-tai, the second Super Sentai series, as well as Kagaku Sentai Dynaman, and Kosoku Sentai Turboranger, has passed away.

The actor passed away at a hospital in Mitaka, Tokyo at the age of 85 from heart failure on December 19th. The actor was born in Taiwan before moving to the Fukuoka Prefecture. A privat funeral and ceremony will be held for close relatives.

Ishibashi graduated from the theater department at the Nihon University of Arts on his way to becoming a well known actor. He was also well known for his roles in Mito Komon, a long running Japanese historical drama and Edo Investigation Network. Ishibashi was hospitalized earlier this year for a month from infection and had been struggling with his legs. He was quoted as saying “I’m still doing my best at 86 years of age,”.

In JAKQ, Ishibashi portrayed the main villain, Iron Claw while he portrayed General Kar, the “God of War” in Dynaman and the villain Reeda in Turboranger.
