Kamen Rider Ex-Aid’s Shouma Kai to Star in Death Note Musical

Kamen Rider Ex Aid actor Shouma Kai is slated to portray Light Yagami in next year’s Death Note musical.

The news was confirmed through Kai’s Instagram, which posted a poster of the musical. Kai, who was chosen from among 2417 applicants, will share the role with backup cast member Ryota Murai, who has also worked on Kamen Rider shows in the past.

Speaking on the role, Kai stated, “I always loved musicals and wanted to be on stage, so I definitely wanted to audition for this part. I will work hard and train under the tutelage of [director] Kuriyama every day!”

The Death Note musical will premier in Toshima Theater of Art and Culture in January 2020.
