Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger to Return in Landmark 2000th Super Sentai Episode

Announced today, the 2000th episode of Super Sentai will feature the return of the 35th anniversary team.

Super Sentai has aired on Japanese screens almost continously since the broadcast of Himitsu Sentai Goranger‘s first episode in 1975. The current series, Dobutsu Sentai Zyuohger, celebrates the 40th anniversary of the franchise.

As well as celebrating the 40th anniversary, Zyuohger will contain the landmark 2000th Super Sentai episode. To celebrate, the 35th anniversary team, Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger, will appear in the 1999th and 2000th episodes airing on September 4th and 11th.

Ryota Ozawa will return as Captain Marvelous, GokaiRed, alongside the rest of the Gokaiger cast, Yuki Yamada, Mao Ichimichi, Kazuki Shimizu, Yui Koike, and Junya Ikeda.

Gokaiger featured a team of heroes from different worlds who were able to access the powers of the previous Super Sentai teams via Ranger Keys which allowed them to transform into the past heroes.

Ozawa said “Having all 6 of us in a line transforming took my breath away. I still feel it ingrained into my body even now. We’re going to get showy again after so long, please look forward to it.”

Zyuoh Eagle’s Masaki Nakao said about performing with the Gokaigers, “I felt the love for Super Sentai.  It’s been a while since having the Gokaiger assembled together, but they quickly adlibbed while filming.” Expressing his thanks, “We’ve inherited the generations up until now and being connected, it makes me want to do even better with Dobutsu Sentai Zyuohger.

The Ending theme for Gokaiger “Super Sentai Hero Getter” will air with an updated version. Successtive Super Sentai will have lyrics added in, updated from shows of Gokaiger onwards for two weeks of airing. The ending theme of Zyuogher will be a special version from norm, limited only to two weeks and available from Data Broadcasting

Episode 28, the 1999th Super Sentai episode will be called “The Space Pirates Return” and air on September 4th. The 2000th episode, the 29th of Zyuohger, is called “The Champion Inside of the Champion” and air on September 11th.
