Gamera Returns in Brand New Anime
Kadokawa has announced the return of Gamera in an upcoming Netflix anime titled Gamera -Rebirth-.
Following more than a decade of absence, Gamera returns. On November 17, Kadokawa announced that a new Gamera project titled Gamera -Rebirth- is in production. This announcement came with the reveal of two teaser images depicting Gamera’s eye, alongside a silhouette of the titular monster. Being uploaded to the official Kadokawa Anime YouTube channel has suggested that this new production will be an anime adaptation of the series, not too dissimilar from SSSS.Gridman and Godzilla Singular Point. While many have reported Gamera -Rebirth- as a series, promotional posts from Netflix Japan, Kadokawa, and the official Gamera -Rebirth– social media accounts are yet to confirm if the project is a film or television series.
Also included in this announcement was a comment from director Shusuke Kaneko (Heisei Gamera Trilogy).
When I came up with my own idea for Reiwa Gamera and made a proposal, KADOKAWA has already started a new project, and it’s content that makes me think that’s what happened, so I can expect this too. With that in mind, I would like to support the team from the position of a baseball commentator who has experience as a manager of the Gamera team until they win the championship and pitch again.
Gamera -Rebirth- is currently in production, and is confirmed to receive worldwide distribution on Netflix. Currently, there is no release date.
