Yu Koyanagi Cast in Ultraman Decker

Tsuburaya Productions announced on May 5, 2022, that Yu Koyanagi has been cast for Ultraman Decker’s GUTS-Select team.

Yu Koyanagi is joining the cast of Ultraman Decker as Yuichiro Asakage, a scientist within the Terrestrial Peaceable Union (TPU), and the mechanical engineer for the GUTS-Select team. Koyanagi has previously played the host of Ultraman Zero, Run, in Ultraman Zero: The Revenge of Belial.

Yuichiro Asakage, age 31, helps the GUTS-Select team fight against Sphere by building them new combat vehicles. Asakage is calm, composed and is a competent mech pilot. He is also skilled at giving orders to the other pilots. 

“I’m returning to the Ultraman universe after I played protagonist Ran in Ultraman Zero: The Revenge of Belial 12 years ago,” Koyanagi wrote. “Everyone welcomed me warmly on set and reminded me that I’m here to demonstrate my craft. I’ll devote myself to providing all my acting skills to this show.”

Ultraman Decker premieres on July 9, 2022, at 9 a.m. JST on TV Tokyo. Tsuburaya plans to publish updates and information about Ultraman Decker every Thursday at 5 p.m. JST until the show airs.
