Kenshi Yonezu to Perform Shin Ultraman’s Main Theme

Famous songwriter and musician Kenshi Yonezu will perform Shin Ultramans main theme song, titled “M87”.

On April 8, the main theme of Shin Ultraman, titled “M87” was revealed to be performed by famous songwriter and musician Kenshi Yonezu.

When I first heard that I would perform the theme song, I thought there must have been some kind of mistake. I never would have dreamed that I’d get to be a part of this project when Shin Ultraman was announced or when I watched Shin Godzilla in theaters those many times. It’s a real bolt from the blue. I wrote the song while staring at the austere Ultraman.

Yonezu began releasing Vocaloid music under his stage name “Hachi” in 2009. A few years later, he debuted under his real name and has created many hit songs and won numerous awards. For example, he was nominated for Best Male Artist at the Space Shower Music Awards in 2016 and 2017 and later won that award for the next three years (2018~2020), and his song “Haiiro to Ao” won the Space Shower Music Award for Best Collaboration (with Kamen Rider W‘s Masaki Suda).
