Koichi Sakamoto to Direct Live Action Bungo Stray Dogs Movie
An upcoming movie based on the Bungo Stray Dogs manga series by Kafka Asagiri has been announced.

The story is adapted from the Bungo Stray Dogs BEAST light novel published in 2019 and is described as a “what if” that follows two of the series’ main characters taking different paths in life and how this impacts the events of the series. Koichi Sakamoto (Ultraman Geed, Kamen Rider Fourze) will direct the movie based off a script from Asagiri.
The cast includes various returning cast members from the Bungo Stray Dogs stage plays, including
- Masashi Taniguchi as Sakunosuke Oda
- Teruma as Doppo Kuniki
- Ryouki Nagae as Rampo Edogawa
- Kousuke Kuwano as Junichirou Tanizaki
- Hitoshi Horinouchi as Kenji Miyazawa
- Ao Hirakawa as Akiko Yosano
- Akari Saito as Naomi Tanizaki
- Rui Tabuchi as Osamu Dazai
- Sakina Kuwae as Kyouka Izumi
- Ayaka Konno as Gin
- Keisuke Ueda as Chuuya Nakahara
Ayaka Konno previously portrayed the villainous Ora in Kamen Rider Zi-O while Masashi Taniguchi portrayed Jin, Kamen Rider Amazon Alpha, in Kamen Rider Amazons and Nagare Tatsumi, GoBlue, in Kyukyu Sentai GoGo Five as well as Bacht, Kamen Rider Phoenix, in Kamen Rider Saber.
The manga has previously been adapted as a three season television anime and follows the lives of some of Japan’s greatest literary figures reimagined as members of warring organizations with supernatural abilities.
Bungo Stray Dogs BEAST will release in Japanese theaters on January 7th, 2022.
