Kamen Rider Zero-One Resumes Filming

Toei announces filming has resumed on Kamen Rider Zero-One after restrictions were lifted by the Japanese government.

Japan lifted its state of emergency following a trend of low confirmed coronavirus infection cases in the second half of May. The Japanese government stated it would lift the emergency should specific thresholds be met. With the state of emergency lifted, the entertainment industry has begun taking steps towards resuming normal activity.

Kamen Rider Zero-One, which is currently in the middle of broadcasting special recap episodes, will resume filming on June 1st. According to people associated with the filming, the decision to resume production was made the day after the state of emergency’s cancellation on the 25th.

To better control the spread of the coronavirus, new guidelines are to be put in place when filming. The shooting times will now be shorter; previously a shoot would last from between 6 AM to 10 PM. Meetings will now be conducted online via web conference services. In addition to this, all staff members must keep a distance of 2 meters while on set. The sole exception will be when the cameras are rolling. Scenes involving extras will now be limited to less than 20 people, while scenes that require large crowds will be handled using composition editing.

Additionally, guidelines were also placed on the action elements of the show. When doing wire stunts, each suit actor is to have no more than two assistants working with them at a single time. Under normal circumstances, the suit actors would have four to five assistants.

Those associated with production state that it will take “time and effort” to continue production, but the staff is aiming to begin broadcasting new episodes in late June.
