The film takes place 10 years after the original story, with the teenage characters now living adult lives and features Samurai Sentai Shinkenger’s Tori Matsuzaka.
On January 14th it was announced by Sony Pictures Entertainment that the manga Whisper of the Heart would be receiving a sequel in the form of a live-action movie. The manga is by Aoi Hiiragi and inspired the 1995 film created by Studio Ghibli.
The film will follow a new plot that is set 10 years after the manga’s story with the characters being adults. The main character, Shizuku Tsukishima, will be played by Nana Seino. Her childhood friend, Seiji Amasawa, will be portrayed by Tori Matsuzaka.
Super Sentai fans will recognize Tori Matsuzaka as Takeru Shiba/Shinken Red in Samurai Sentai Shinkenger. He has also starred in the live-action Gatchaman film as Ken Washio the Eagle.
The film will open in Japan theaters on September 18.
