Shinkalion The Movie To Feature New Godzilla Design
Popular train anime to feature new design for the King of the Monsters.
This week, Yahoo Movies Japan loaded the first three minutes of the new animated movie Shinkansen-Transforming Robot Shinkalion the Movie: The Mythically Fast ALFA-X That Came From Future which features a new design for the King of Monsters, referred to as “Snow Godzilla.” The clip, which you can check out at the link below, features a character based on Hatsune Miku launching the titular transforming train to take on the legendary kaiju. The anime, which finished its run this past June, has collaborated with other properties during its run including Neon Genesis Evangelion.
Based on the toyline-turned-anime from Takara Tomy and in conjunction with Toho, the show revolves around a boy named Hayato Hayasugi who accidentally stumbles upon his father’s secret research lab and discovers the transforming Shinkalion E5 Hayabusa train. Along with other kids, Hayato acts as the pilot the Shinkalion with assistance from the adults of the “Shinkansen Ultra Evolution Institute” (SUEI) to defeat a monstrous jet black bullet train. In the film, Hayato’s father, voiced by Tomokazu Sugita (Kamen Rider Kiva, Kamen Rider Zi-O), is turned into a child and must help his son protect the Earth from a new threat and also to find his way back to his own time.
The film opened at #8 in its first weekend in Japan last month.
