Godzilla Minus One New Trailer and Cast Revealed

A new trailer has been unveiled for Godzilla Minus One. With it has come the reveal of numerous cast and crew members.


On September 4, at 3:35 p.m. in Japan, a brand new trailer for Godzilla Minus One was released. Not only does the trailer give fans new looks at the all-new Godzilla, it also reveals the film’s main cast.

Concurrent with the trailer’s release, a press conference for Godzilla Minus One was held, featuring director Takashi Yamazaki, producer Minami Ichikawa, as well as the two leading actors. The film’s cast includes:

  • Ryunosuke Kamiki as Koichi Shikishima
  • Minami Hamabe as Noriko Oishi
  • Yuki Yamada as Shiro Mizushima
  • Munetaka Aoki as Sosaku Tachibana
  • Hidetaka Yoshioka as Kenji Noda
  • Sakura Ando as Sumiko Ota
  • Kuranosuke Sasaki as Yoji Akitsu

Godzilla Minus One features an all-star cast, tokusatsu fans may be familiar with Ryonosuke Kamiki through his appearances in Kamen Rider AgitoThe Great Yokai War, and Big Man Japan. Meanwhile, Minami Hamabe just recently appeared as Ruriko Midorikawa in this year’s Shin Kamen Rider and had previously starred in Yamazaki’s The Great War of Archimedes. Yuki Yamada made his debut as an actor as Joe Gibken (Gokai Blue) in Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger. 

Munetaka Aoki played Ultra series director Hajime Tsuburaya in the NHK documentary drama Futari no Ultraman. For actor Hidetaka Yoshioka, this is his second time being in a film featuring Godzilla. Previously, he starred as a leading actor in Takashi Yamazaki’s Always Sunset on Third Street trilogy, which features a Godzilla cameo in the second film. Award-winning actress Sakura Ando is best known for her appearances in drama films such as Love Exposure and the Oscar-nominated film Shoplifters, but has also appeared in The Great Yokai War: Guardians, and  Yamazaki’s Destiny: The Tale of Kamakura. Lastly, Kuranosuke Sasaki has appeared in the live-action 20th Century Boys trilogy.

Alongside the cast announcements, a brand new composer has confirmed Naoki Sato will be the film’s composer. Sato has composed almost all of Takashi Yamazaki’s previous films and even did his rendition of Akira Ifukube’s Godzilla theme for 2007’s Always Sunset on Third Street 2.

Godzilla Minus One has been completed and is slated for a Japanese release on November 3rd. It will released nationwide across more than 500 theaters, having the biggest distribution of any Toho work. The film is also confirmed for release in the United States on December 1 across 1,000 screens.
