Kamen Rider Drive’s Ryouma Takeuchi Named In GQ Men of the Year
Ryouma Takeuchi was named Actor of the Year by GQ for 2018.
Ryouma Takeuchi, who is remembered fondly as main character Shinnosuke Tomari in Kamen Rider Drive, was crowned Best Actor in GQ Japan’s Men of the Year.
There are a total of ten different catergories in which GQ Magazine chooses winners for in the Men of the Year event. Similar events for the magazine take place as well, such as DA PUMP winning “Pop Icon of the Year”. DA PUMP’s leader singer, ISSA, most recently took part in singing for Kamen Rider ZI-O‘s opening theme “Over “Quartzer””. Kamen Rider W‘s Masaki Suda also won a GQ Men of the Year award in 2016.
In a statement, Takeuchi stated he was looking forward to shooting the photos for the cover. He looked forward to the opportunity of wearing cool clothing and hairstyles that were new to him.
During 2018, Takeuchi recently placed high in a poll about being the ideal brother, and was named no.1 in a poll of ideal male physique in Japan. He was also nominated in the 72nd Mainichi Film Awards for Best New Actor, and won the 41st Japan Academy Prize and 42nd Elan d’or Awards for Newcomer of the Year.
Takeuchi says he plans to take what he has learned in 2018 and use it to grow even more in the coming year.
