Comics Corner: Saban’s Go Go Power Rangers #9

Kimberly Hart is the coolest Power Ranger ever in this months Go Go Power Rangers, and the time-traveling Ranger Slayer is revealed.

Publisher: BOOM! Studios
Writer:  Ryan Parrott
Artist: Dan Mora

It doesn’t matter what time or dimension, this issue proves that Kimberly Hart is the coolest Power Ranger ever, whether in Lord Drakkon’s ruined earth or on the main timeline. Also in this issue, we get the debut of the Ranger Slayer who has traveled from the future on a malevolent but mysterious mission with ties to the Pink Ranger.

The issue opens with a group of resistance against Lord Drakkon’s regime fleeing through their ruined Angel Grove, who are quickly cornered by Mastodon Sentries. However, a familiar face comes through with the rescue, the Kimberly Hart of this dimension. A skilled archer with the best in Post-apocalyptic fashion, who will no doubt play a larger role in the future of SHATTERED GRID.

On the proper Power Ranger’s timeline, it gets emotional with flashbacks to Kimberly’s family troubles that really pack a punch. The weight and emotional depth the writers are able to bring to Power Rangers is just phenomenal. We also get more upbeat socializing between the Rangers that’s a whole lot of fun to read.

The back end of the issue is where stuff gets back to the action sides of things, with the Rangers taking on good old Goldar and some creepy Putties. But just as the action really picks up, The Ranger Slayer and their awesome outfit make their debut.

SHATTERED GRID’s opening issues keep raising the stakes and it all looks like it’s going to continue being this great to read, and Kimberly continues to be the best ranger. Also don’t forget to pick up the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers 2018 Annual, which is also on sale now.
