Kyuranger Suit Actors Officially Announced

Toei has listed new information regarding the team in Uchu Sentai Kyuranger.

Along with the first preview trailer for this year’s Sentai series, Toei has released new information regarding the suit actors working on Uchu Sentai Kyuranger as well as a bit of insight into the design aesthetics of each ranger.

ShishiRed
Suit actor: Takada Masashi

At the center of the nine is Red. His form is refined and righteous. The Kyurangers common design element is the armored chest. The mask is reminiscent of the Shishi system. The suit actor for ShishiRed is Takada Masashi, serving as a Red for the first time. He previously played Zyuoh TheWorld in Dobutsu Sentai Zyuohger.

SasoriOrange
Suit actor: Yasuhiko Imai

With his tail, he brings to mind a Zyuman from Zyuohger.

Yasuhiko Imai, who is used to playing villains, is playing a main character this time. This is his second year in a row as an orange warrior after having played ZyuohBird.

OkamiBlue
Suit actor: Yasuhiro Takeuchi
Voice actor to be announced at a later date.

From the design stages, one of the key elements was hair as his suit is covered in blue wolf hair. Just like in Zyuohger (Zyuoh Lion), Yasuhiro Takeuchi plays another “wild” ranger.

TenbinGold
Suit actor: Obayashi Masaru
Voice actor to be announced at a later date.

His design is more mechanical in comparison to the armored designs of other members. His robot form was designed by K-SuKe, who did designs for Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger and Shuriken Sentai Ninninger. Obayashi Masaru previously played Yellow Racer in Gekisou Sentai Carranger as well as the Freeze and Seeker Roidmudes in Kamen Rider Drive.

OushiBlack
Suit actor: Jiro Okamoto
Voice actor to be announced at a later date.

Like TenbinGold, his suit is different from the others. It is not a suit but a full armored body. Like TenbinGold, he is characterized by his personality, which will be one of the most prominent. His alien form was designed by Masato Hisa, who designed the main suits as well as the enemy and various other elements of the show. Champ’s alien design in particular was Hisa’s favorite. The big build of the character is expected to pair well with Okamoto’s dynamic action. Jiro Okamoto is a veteran suit actor who has worked on many Super Sentai, Kamen Rider and Metal Hero series since the 1980’s. Most recently, he played ShinkenGold in Samurai Sentai Shinkenger and Azald in Zyuohger.

HebitsukaiSilver
Suit actor: Keizo Yabe

Like Gold, this is the first time a silver ranger is on the team from the start. His suit is designed in a simple manner and sports snake scales. Yabe is a veteran suit actor who usually plays monsters but is entering the role of a hero this time.

ChameleonGreen
Suit actor: Ayumi Shimozono

This is the first time a female will be a green ranger on TV. Ayumi Shimozono previously played Zyuoh Tiger in Zyuohger.

WashiPink
Suit actress: Ryouko Gomi

This pink sports feathers and wings on her back for flying. WashiPink will be a very different sort of character in contrast to Hammy. When she’s not fighting as a ranger, Raptor283 serves as the pilot of the team’s spaceship. Ryouko Gomi’s latest role was Zyuoh Shark in Zyuohger. K-SuKe also designed her alien form.

KajikiYellow
Suit actor: Shinsuke Kusano

He sports a shocking and elongated visor design reminiscent of a swordfish. Kusano is the youngest member of the stunt team, which was necessary to bring this character’s action to life. His latest role was Bangray in Zyuohger.

The series will take place in the distant future and for the first time ever feature a team of nine rangers fighting together against the evil Jark Matter, who have already conquered the universe. Team members include ShishiRed, ChameleonGreen, KajikiYellow, SasoriOrange, OushiBlack, OkamiBlue, WashiPink, and the “combi” warriors TenbinGold and HebitsukaiSilver.

Nobuhiro Mori, who has written various episodes for Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters, Kamen Rider OOO, and Kamen Rider Gaim, is serving as head writer for the first time. TV Asahi producer Motoi Sasaki, who has worked on Sentai as a TV Asahi producer since Engine Sentai Go-Onger, is serving as chief producer. This will be the first time Toei is not in charge of a Sentai’s production.

It was also recently revealed Bandai of America will, for the first time ever, have a hand in the conception of a Sentai series.

Uchu Sentai Kyuranger starts February 12th, one week after Zyuohger’s 48th and final episode.
