As a final reveal at their SDCC panel today, Legendary Entertainment announced a new film featuring another cinematic icon King Kong.

Along with the announcements of Godzilla 2, Warcraft and a look at other films like Guillermo del Toro’s Crimson Peak, footage was shown of the next feature that will look into the origins of the beast, titled Skull Island. A press release that was distributed after the panel gives more insight into the direction that Legendary intends to take the franchise along with a release date.

Today in Hall H, Legendary also revealed it will be making a feature film based on the famed Skull Island, the cinematic origins of another classic beast, King Kong. Previous works have touched on the island, but staying and exploring this mysterious and dangerous place offers Legendary the opportunity to take audiences deeper inside this rich world with a style and scope that parallels other Legendary productions. The film will be released on November 4, 2016.
