Prosecutor Decides Against Moving Forward on Charging Tsunenori Aoki

Prosecutor decides not to move forward on the charges in Tsunenori Aoki’s case.

On April 27th, the Tokyo District Prosecutor in charge of actor Tsuenori Aoki’s case decided against moving forward on his charges. Moreover at the time of this writing, said Prosecutor gave no clear reason for why they made that judgment.

As previously reported, Aoki was arrested for indecent assault on April 5th, for approaching an unknown woman in her 30s from behind and grabbing her chest on March 4th, 2018 at 1:30 AM JST in Setagaya. The woman stated that her neck was “lightly injured”, and Aoki was reportedly intoxicated. He was released from the Setagaya Station on April 6th.

Due to this incident, Aoki got his role in the Messiah Project play, Messiah: Engraved Moonlight replaced by actor Kohei Murakami, best known as Kusaka Masato (Kamen Rider Kaixa) in Kamen Rider Faiz, as well as Bud (Zyuoh Bird) from Doubutsu Sentai Zyuohger (Animal Sentai Zyuohger). The official website for the Messiah Project stated at the time:

In lieu of Tsunenori Aoki stepping down the other day, we are announcing that Kohei Murakami will taking part. We are striving to deliver the best production to our customers, so from all of the sincere cast and staff members, we appreciate your continued support.

Later, Aoki was arrested again on April 20th, once again for indecent assault on a separate unnamed woman. This incident occurred on the same night as the previous one. Aoki was suspected of putting his right hand inappropriately in the woman’s skirt. He stated that “he was drunk and doesn’t remember it”.

Tsunenori Aoki is best known in the tokusatsu fandom for his role as the Yggdrasill Corporation scientist Ryoma Sengoku in Kamen Rider Gaim. He also played Aguri Kusugami in Garo: Yami o Terasu Mono.
