Mob Psycho 100 Live-Action Drama Adaptation Reveals January 12th Debut Alongside New Cast Visuals

Live-action drama adaptation for Mob Psycho 100 reveals a January 12th release date alongside a new main visual and visuals for new cast members.


Terebi Tokyo’s official website for the upcoming live-action drama adaptation of famous manga author ONE (One-Punch Man)’s web comic Mob Psycho 100,  has revealed a January 12th release date in 2018. Alongside that revelation was reveals of the main visual for the drama and new character visuals for newly unveiled cast members.

As previously announced, Tatsuomi Hamada, who plays Riku Asakura/Ultraman Geed from Ultraman Geed, will be playing the titular protagonist Mob. Joining him will be the newly cast Kazuki Namioka (Sid/Kamen Rider Sigurd from Kamen Rider Gaim) as Mob’s master Arataka Reigen, and Nogizaka46 member Yūki Yoda as Mob’s childhood friend and crush Tsubomi Takane.

The live-action drama adaptation of Mob Pschyo 100 is a joint collaboration between Terebi Tokyo and Netflix. It will premiere on Netflix on January 12th, then premiere  on Terebi Tokyo’s “MokuDora 25” time slot on January 18th. Furthermore, BS Japan will air the series on January 23th.

Prolific director Koichi Sakamoto (Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger, Kamen Rider W) is set to helm the drama alongside Koba Fuminori as producer and Reiko Yoshida and Kei Kunii as writers for the scripts. Fuminori commented that there will be “intense psychic ability battle scenes”, using both tokusatsu and VFS effects.

Upon being cast as Mob, Hamada commented:

“It wasn’t clear to me how to portray a minimalist character like Mob, but I was determined to do it and now I’m really excited. There’s an abundant of individual characters surrounding Mob, as we evil spirits, I’m looking forward to what show it will become as we now move into filming!”
