Cleopatra Entertainment announced that it has the US distribution rights for the Shin Ultraman film from 2022.
Cleopatra Entertainment announced in a press release that it has obtained the distribution rights to Shin Ultraman in the United States. Cleopatra plans to release the film on Video-on-Demand platforms and Blu-ray and DVD skews in the Spring of 2023 after Shin Ultraman leaves theaters. No other information is available at this time.
Cleopatra primarily deals with horror and independent films like Baphomet (2021), Daddy’s Girl (2020) and A Swinger’s Weekend (2018). This is the company’s first release of a tokusatsu film from Japan.
Shin Ultraman is currently in American theaters through Fathom Events with recent showings on January 11 and 12. Cleopatra stated that a third screening through Fathom is coming up but did not provide any dates.
Shin Ultraman follows the life of various SSSP officers who protect Japan from the sudden appearances of S-Class Species (Kaiju) from space, and the eventual arrival of the Ultraman. The film acts as a reimagining of the Ultraman mythos and franchise with no prior knowledge needed. Shin Ultraman is a part of the Shin Japan Heroes Universe project which is composed of IPs from director Hideaki Anno.
