Actor Raizo Ishikawa joins the cast of Avataro Sentai Donbrothers as Jiro Momotani / Don Dragoku.
Actor Raizo Ishikawa has officially joined the cast of the latest installment in the Super Sentai series, Avataro Sentai Donbrothers. The actor officially joined the principal cast of Donbrothers in episode 14, which premiered on June 5, 2022. Ishikawa plays Jiro Momotani, a man who had met Momoi Taro/Don Momotaro in the past and longs to be a hero himself. The character of Jiro Momotani will officially transform into the newest member of the Donbrothers as Don Dragoku in episode 15, which will premiere on June 12, 2022.
Ishikawa, who was overjoyed to be joining the Super Sentai franchise, recently released a statement on his casting as Jiro Momotani:
“As a child, I excitedly watched Super Sentai every week. I’m good at cartwheels, but that’s from watching red Sentai warriors in the openings. I practiced cartwheels because I wanted to be able to copy them no matter what. I think my inquisitiveness is also thanks to Super Sentai!
When I passed the audition, I was like ‘I did it!’ (laughs) When the result came in, I didn’t look at the email until I got home. My heart was pounding as I opened the email, and I remember having a huge high five with my mom. (laughs)
I’ve fulfilled my dream in being on Donbrothers, and when I first met everyone face-to-face, I didn’t sense any kind of barrier between us. Afterward, Higuchi (Taro / Don Momotaro) invited me to go to the sauna with him out of the blue, so that was my first day. I also remember Kohaku (Haruka / OniSister) communicating with only her eyes to me, no words, to do a dance with her. (laughs) I was really worried on the way there that I’d have a hard time getting used to things, but since that first day, I’m glad that my worries have blown away. I can’t stop smiling, but I really have to do things right! I think there’s going to be a lot of variety and motivation on set. Please support me! I’m going to do my best as Jiro Momotani!”
Avataro Sentai Donbrothers airs on Sunday mornings at 9:30 AM (Japan Standard Time) on TV Asahi.
