Kakuranger Narrator Enjo Sanyutei Passes Away at Age 76

Enjo Sanyutei, who served as the narrator of Ninja Sentai Kakuranger, has passed away at 76.


Enjo Sanyutei, the narrator of Ninja Sentai Kakuranger, has passed away at age 76 on November 30th. The cause of death was due to heart failure. Enjo Sanyutei was also known for his own style of rakugo, a style of Japanese entertainment.

Sanyutei was born in Nagoya City and began his career in 1964 where he started off as a rakugo storyteller under the stage name “Nuusei.” In 1978, he began to gain popularity by starting his own rakugo storytelling style that used groundbreaking ideas every performance. It is said that Sanyutei has made more than 300 works, which inspired the younger rakugoka to come.

In Ninja Sentai Kakuranger, Sanyutei served as the exposition and comic relief in the first half of the series as The Narrator. He narrated the first half of the series, and narrated another episode later in the series.
