Kamen Rider Build’s Atsuhiro Inukai’s Playful Antics
Atsuhiro Inukai, known as Sento Kiryu from Kamen Rider Build, shares some funny stories.
Atsuhiro Inukai, who starred in 2017’s Kamen Rider Build, recently appeared on the Fuji TV show Downtown Now. Here are some highlights from his appearance.
Inukai talks about how he used to just sit at the desk at his agency after debuting at 18, and there was a time period where he had no jobs. It felt like he had quit being an actor. After he won the JUNON Super Boy Contest, he made his way to Tokyo. He knew he’d be in an office. But about three or four years had passed.
Inukai continues: I was so bewildered by the situation. I didn’t have any auditions, had nothing to do, just read the same magazine over and over, and looked out the window.
Then Inukai talks about how in four years, he had an opportunity to reflect upon himself and understood people’s pain. But there are some things that haven’t changed… like how he still enjoys picking on people. He recalls a time when he was working in his hometown. He was having dinner with a staff and invited his friend. Inukai spent the night staring and smiling at one of his managers who looked like he was desperate to go home.
Inukai continues: I remember he kept glancing at his watch and all I could think of was “Man, he really wants to go home” (laughs).
Then Inukai recalls another similar event where he was out with his co-star Kensei Mikami (who portrayed Gentoku on Kamen Rider Build). For the last meal of their day, Mikami said he wanted to eat Hakata Ramen. Inukai told him that he knows a good place but ended up taking him to a soba (Japanese Buckwheat Noodle) restaurant instead.
The thing is, Inukai knew Mikami doesn’t like soba. Mikami just stared at Inukai who was looking at the onigiri side menu and laughing away.
Everyone who was in the variety show with Inukai told him “you shouldn’t be allowed on TV anymore”.
