The Kamen Rider Vulcan actor discusses how his latest upgrade reflects the character’s growth in the series.
Following this past weekend’s airing of Kamen Rider Zero-One, actor Ryotaro Okada, who portrays Isamu Fuwa / Kamen Rider Vulcan on the show, took to his YouTube channel to discuss the transformation pose for the Rampage Vulcan form as well as the previous transformation poses for his character’s other forms, Shooting Wolf and Punching Kong. You can check out the video with English subtitles down below.
In the video, Okada describes the transformation into Rampage Vulcan as one that is meant to show him quite literally moving forward in his thinking, as opposed to earlier in the series. The decision to show Fuwa move from punching the bullet, deflecting the bullet and then crushing the bullet were all meant to show his anger and narrow-minded views on Humagears. For Punching Kong, he wanted to show the size difference of the form on his body as it formed around him. Additionally, he describes the process for coming up with what he thought the transformation should look like when he learned of the character’s upgrade before the script had been written.
Okada then thanks fans for watching the show and encourages them to tune in and see the conflict between Fuwa and Yua Yaiba play out over the next two episodes.
