The star of Kamen Rider Wizard reprises his role for the live-action adaptation
It was announced that actor Shunya Shiraishi will again play Nishiki Nishio in the sequel to the first Tokyo Ghoul live-action movie. In the film, Nishio is a ghoul who attends the same school as main character Ken Kaneki, played by Masataka Kubota. Fans were surprised by the news due to the character’s apparent demise in the first movie, to which Shiraishi commented, “I managed to survive.”
Shiraishi is most well known for his role as Haruto Soma in 2012’s Kamen Rider Wizard and last reprised the role in 2016’s team-up movie Kamen Rider Heisei Generations: Dr. Pac-Man vs. Ex-Aid & Ghost with Legend Riders.
Released in Japan on July 29, 2017, the first Tokyo Ghoul movie is available now on Blu-Ray and DVD from Funimation. The sequel, tentatively titled Tokyo Ghoul: TOKYO GHOUL 2, will release in 2019.
