Notable Super Sentai Voice Actor Nobuo Tanaka Passes Away

Super Sentai voice actor Nobuo Tanaka passes away from esophageal cancer at age 83.

It was reported on Saturday, October 20th, that Nobuo Tanaka has passed away. The voice actor died as a result of esophageal cancer and was 83 years old. A funeral will be held for close family and friends.

Being active in the industry since 1958, he is known for roles such as Dio Brando in the original Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure and the narrator for the 1970s Lupin III series.

Super Sentai fans will recognize him as a narrator in Himitsu Sentai Gorenger, Dengeki Sentai Changeman, Kousoku Sentai Turboranger, and Chouriki Sentai Ohranger. He also voiced Instructor Ritchihiker in Gekisou Sentai Carranger and Mister Voice in GoGo Sentai Boukenger. In Hikounin Sentai Akibaranger, he made a brief on-screen cameo as himself.

He received a special award at the 4th Seiyuu Awards in 2010.
