Alexander Skarsgård Joins Godzilla vs. Kong

Alexander Skarsgård has been cast in an unknown role in Godzilla vs. Kong.

On Thursday, it was reported that Alexander Skarsgård has been cast in Godzilla vs. Kong. Skarsgård is known for his role in Big Little Lies and for playing Tarzan in 2016’s The Legend of Tarzan. As of now, Skarsgård’s role in the upcoming monster crossover movie is unannounced.

Skarsgård joins Deadpool 2’s Julian Dennison as previously announced along with Brian Tyree Henry (Atlanta), Demian Bichir (The Nun), Van Marten (Ant-Man and the Wasp), and Ziyi Zhang (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon). Writing for the film began in 2017 with Terry Rossio (Pirates of the Caribbean), J.D. Payne (Star Trek Beyond), T.S. Nowlin (Maze Runner), Jack Paglen (Transcendence), J. Michael Straczynski (Babylon 5), Patrick McKay, Lindsey Beer, and Cat Vasco. The film will be directed by Adam Wingard.

Legendary brought Godzilla back to larger American audiences with 2014’s Godzilla. The sequel, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, is set to release on March 22nd, 2019. Legendary also produced Kong: Skull Island (2017) with Warner Bros. in order to allow for the crossover with Godzilla to become the basis for the MonsterVerse, a series of movies about new and classic giant monsters.

Godzilla vs. Kong is scheduled to release exactly one year after the Godzilla sequel on May 22nd, 2020.
