Mahiro Takasugi (Mitsuzane Kureshima/Kamen Rider Ryugen from Kamen Rider Gaim) will voice the unnamed protagonist for the Let Me Eat Your Pancreas anime movie.
The official website for the anime film, Kimi no Suizo o Tabetai (Let Me Eat Your Pancreas), announced on Friday that Mahiro Takasugi, who’s previously portrayed Mitsuzane Kureshima/Kamen Rider Ryugen in Kamen Rider Gaim, will voice the unnamed protagonist.
Based on the novel by Yoru Sumino, Let Me Eat Your Pancreas is a story told from the point of view of an unnamed protagonist (Mahiro Takasugi) who happens to find his classmate Sakura Yamauchi’s (Lynn) diary, who is revealed to only have a few months left to live due to a terminal illness in her pancreas. Sakura explains that the protagonist is the only person (aside from her family) that knows about her ill state and the protagonist promises to keep this a secret. Despite having opposite personalities, the protagonist decides to be with Sakura til the end.
Let Me Eat Your Pancreas will be produced by Studio VOLN (Idol Incidents, Ushio & Tora) and directed by Shinichiro Ushijima (Hunter x Hunter, One-Punch Man) with Yūichi Oka (Eromanga Sensei, To-Love Ru) serving as both character designer and chief animation director. The film’s opening, insert, and main theme songs will be by popular rock band, sumika (Love is Hard for an Otaku).
A press conference was held and there was a preview screening for the full film on July 24th in Tokyo (with an official release on September 1st).
