In a few weeks, Kamen Rider and Super Sentai will be competing with Dragonball Super and One Piece for ratings.

A recent Yahoo! Japan article shed some new light on the Super Hero Time time slot change, the competition with juggernauts One Piece and Dragonball Super, and the new show taking over the old time slot:

The era of children waking up in the morning to watch their favorite shows on TV-Asahi: Super Sentai and Kamen Rider, will come to an end as timeslots will change beginning in October.

Uchu Sentai Kyuranger, whose timeslot is currently 7:30AM will now air at 9:30AM in the morning, while Kamen Rider Build, whose timeslot is 8:00AM will now air at 9:00AM in the morning. Noriyuki Higashiyama’s new news program will begin so it will gain more of the attention during its two hours segment. The news program will begin at 5:50 AM and end at 8:30 AM, which overlaps the timeslot for shows aimed towards children.

The new timeslot for Kamen Rider will have it be competing against Dragonball Super on Fuji TV. While the new timeslot for Super Sentai will have it be competing against One Piece on Fuji TV.

While Toei Animation, who produces Dragonball Super and One Piece is a Toei consolidated subsidary, much of the complaints regarding TV-Asahi’s time conflict come from within the company. In addition to the time conflict, there’s also a conflict of obtaining sponsors during those air times.

There’s a time modification every quarter however, why would TV-Asahi go as far as introducing a new news segment?

“Instead of wanting that show, shouldn’t there be more consideration to the company?” TV-Asahi also includes Music Station, a segment that showcases performance from the music and talent agency Johnny’s, as well as other variety shows. However, it’s now going to take a great deal to compete with the stable and popular segments such as Sunday Morning and Shuichi. The show may be popular, but Higashiyama just doesn’t have an impression of a host.

As for Johnny’s, there’s plenty of reason to be so fixated on Higashiyama being casted as a newscaster.

This is supposed to be a move towards the Olympics in three years. However, with the disbanding of SMAP, who were official sponsors to the Paralympics, that has now become an impossible dream. With the influential figure, Higashiyama, we will want him to fill in the gaps.

Toei, who are dissattified but not surprised, are not able to do anything.

TOHO, who have dominated the movie industry, have set a dominance over Toei. Toei’s last hopes from the Tokusatsu series have low ratings and cannot turn the tide.

Kamen Rider Ghost’s average rating were 5.1 %, while Ressha Sentai ToQger’s average ratings were 3.8 %; a disastrous spectacle.

We have tried to reach out to staff out Toei however, their were response were: there is no one within the staff who will voice their dissatisfaction.
