Two former Kamen Riders join the live-action adaptation of Kemuri Karakara’s supernatural manga.
Renn Kiriyama (Shotaro in Kamen Rider W) and Sota Fukushi (Gentaro in Kamen Rider Fourze) have joined the cast of Laughing Under the Clouds, a film version of the story that started life as a manga in Monthly Comic Avarus magazine.
Fukushi serves as co-protagonist of the film alongside Yuma Nakayama and Kirato Wakayama. They play the Kumo brothers (Tenka, Soramaru, and Chutaro respectively) three siblings tasked with transporting prisoners to an inescapable prison in the middle of Lake Biwa during Japan’s Meiji Era.
Kiriyama plays Shirasu Kinjo, a man who arrived at the Kumo Shrine gravely injured. He was nursed back to health by Tenka, and now lives at the Shrine with the Kumos.
Laughing Under the Clouds is directed by Psycho-Pass director Katsuyuki Motohiro, and written by Yuuya Takahashi, who worked on the Laughing Under the Clouds anime and Lupin the Third. The film will hit Japanese theaters in January of next year.
