Anime music artist Ichiro Mizuki will be performing the theme song for the upcoming Ultraman Orb.

The cast of Ultraman Orb appeared at the 2016 Tokyo Toy Show where it was announced that long time anisong (anime specific music) artist Ichiro Mizuki will perform the theme song for Ultraman Orb. Mizuki has previously performed the ending theme for Juuken Sentai Gekiranger.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Ultraman franchise and Hideo Ishiguro, who plays Kurenai Gai, was hand picked to play the role of the show’s lead character.

Orb follows off the heels of the well-received Ultraman X from last year and will further challenge the Ultraman franchise by adapting new ideas as of yet unseen in past shows.

Toshihiko Takamizawa, member of the Japanese rock band THE ALFEE, penned the lyrics to the song “Orb’s Prayer”.

Ultraman Orb premieres on Saturday, July 9th at 9 AM in Japan, replacing New Ultraman Retsuden, and will run for 25 episodes. Ultraman Orb‘s head director is Kiyotaka Taguchi, who is returning from Ultraman X along with head writers Takao Nakano and Yuji Kobayashi. A spinoff series set for an international release on Amazon Prime has also been announced.
