A book containing select Ultra Series scripts by Tetsuo Kinjo is back in print.

Tsuburaya’s “Ultra 50” anniversary marches on with the re-release of the Tetsuo Kinjo Scenario Collection, a book featuring some of the playwright’s scripts from Ultra Q and Ultraman. Kinjo is perhaps the second-most important figure in Ultra history next to Eiji Tsuburaya himself, having come up with many of the ideas and themes that would become part of the franchise’s DNA.

The Scenario Collection was originally published in 1984, and is being re-released with new content, including illustrations by Takeo Chikatsu and a postscript by fellow writer Shozo Uehara. The book retails for 3,024 yen.

The included scripts from Ultra Q are “Goro and Goroh,” “The Gift from Space,” “Terror of the Sweet Honey,” “Baron Spider,” “Garamon Strikes Back,” “The 1/8 Project,” “The Fury of the South Sea,” and “The Rose from Mars,” which was never filmed.

From Ultraman, the book includes “Ultraman Is Born (The Pre-Celebration),” “Terror on Route 87,” “Phantom of the Snow Mountains,” “The Forbidden Words,” “The Littlest Hero,” and “Farewell, Ultraman.”
