Dobutsu Sentai Zyuohger Cast and Crew Revealed

Toei’s website for Dobutsu Sentai Zyuohger, the 40th anniversary Sentai series, has launched and reveals the cast and crew of the show.

UPDATE: the first Dobutsu Sentai Zyuohger PV has aired.

Information regarding the anniversary series, whose catchphrase is “Instinct Awakened!” has been revealed. The cast includes:

ZyuohEagle is Yamato Kazakiri and is played by Masaki Nakao (19).

ZyuohTiger is named Amu and is played by Haruka Tateishi (21) who is returning from retirement.

ZyuohLion is Leo and played by Shohei Nanba (24).

ZyuohElephant is named Tusk and played by Tsurugi Watanabe (19), a Junon Super Boy finalist.

ZyuohShark is named Sera and is played by model Miki Yanagi (18).

The group’s mentor, Mario Mori. will be played by veteran actor Susumu Terajima, known for his role as a female suit actor in the movie “In The Hero“. Mori is Yamato’s uncle and a sculptor.

The motif chosen for the 40th anniversary installment is the life earth is proud of, the animals.

One human and four mysterious animals, an encounter with the Zyumans who tell the human to protect all living things on earth!

Oricon, a Japanese media website and agency, has also released details concerning the series. Zyuohger’s central story revolves around the conflict between the Zyumans of Zyuland and invaders from space spilling over onto earth. Four Zyumans, humanoids with animal features, head to earth and meet biologist Yamato Kazakiri, who teams up with them to defend the earth against the same threat that attacked Zyuland, the Deathgalien. Because four of the heroes have Zyuman forms, it’s noted that this will be the first Sentai where the members have three forms. By representing the greatest of each animal in the world, the members become kings of beasts, Zyuoh, and their right to this title is represented by the ZyuohChanger.

The color combination of red, blue, yellow, green, and white is a unique one, having never appeared before in Super Sentai. This is also the first time since 2005’s Mahou Sentai Magiranger that a blue ranger will be female.

The series will be written by Junko Komura. Komura has previously written episodes for Gokaiger, Go-Busters, Kamen Rider Wizard, and Bima X. This will be Komura’s first series as a head writer. Takayuki Shibasaki will be the director of the series. Shibasaki has worked on Kamen Rider Kabuto, Shinkenger, and Kyoryuger, this will be his first series as a head director. Hirofumi Fukuzawa will return as action director for the show. Takaki Utsunomiya, who was the head producer on Shinkenger, Gokaiger, Kamen Rider Wizard, and ToQger will serve as head producer.

Dobutsu Sentai Zyuoger will premiere on February 14th, 2016 with a special “pre00” prologue episode.

Narrator: The Animal Heroes who stand up against the Earth’s Crisis. Dobutsu Sentai Zyuohger! Premieres on February 14.

Zyuohger follows four Zyuman warriors from Zyuland who come to earth and team up with the human Yamato Kazakiri. Together, these five warriors become Dobutsu Sentai Zyuohger and fight against the Deathgaliens, an alien force that invaded Zyuland.

Zyuohger will begin on February 14th with a special “pre00” prologue episode. A press conference introducing the cast and show to the media will take place on January 23rd.
