Godzilla Artist Noriyoshi Ohrai Passes Away

Noriyoshi Ohrai, the artist responsible for the iconic Heisei Godzilla posters, passed away on October 27th.

Noriyoshi Ohrai, born in 1939, was an artist who worked on posters and paintings for many popular media franchises, from movies like Star Wars and Mad Max to video games like Metal Gear Solid and Nobunaga’s Ambition. Tokusatsu fans best know Ohrai for his work on the posters for all of the Heisei Godzilla films.

Noriyoshi Ohrai died on Tuesday, October 27 at 11:35 a.m. of pneumonia in his hospital bed in Kunitomi, Miyazaki Prefecture. His funeral will be on the 29th in Miyazaki City. He was 79-years old.
