Information filed with the Japan Patent Office indicates that the 40th installment of the Super Sentai series will be titled Dobutsu Sentai Jyuuouger (動物戦隊ジュウオウジャー).
The tweet from a Japanese trademark bot is as follows:
Toei Company has registered trademark of Doubutsu Sentai Jyuuouger according to a public announcement. Application Number 2015-86037～2015-86058
Dobutsu means “animal” and “jyuuou” is a portmanteau word of 獣王, meaning “beast king”. The popular 90s SEGA game known in the West as Altered Beast was titled 獣王記 (Jyuuouki), meaning Chronicles of the Beast King.
The title suggests that the theme will be animal in nature, similar to past animal themed series such as Sun Vulcan, Liveman, Gingaman, Gaoranger, Gekiranger, and the alternate universe version of GoBusters, Dobutsu Sentai GoBusters.
A September registration of the Super Sentai series is consistent with previous trademark registrations.
Expect further details regarding the series to develop in the coming months.
