Ultraseven, Ultra Q Now Available For Online Streaming

Shout! Factory’s website is now streaming the entirety of both Ultra Q and Ultraseven with English subtitles.

Broadcast in 1966, Ultra Q is considered to be the first chronological show of Tsuburaya’s long-running Ultra Series. Best described as the Japanese answer to America’s The Outer Limits, Ultra Q chronicles various strange adventures with monsters, aliens, government conspiracies, and alternate dimensions. Several monsters from the series were repurposed for Ultraman, which itself pre-empted the final episode of Ultra Q by way of the “Birth of Ultraman” special.

Ultraseven, broadcast in 1967, was the slightly darker follow-up to Ultraman. The series follows the exploits of Dan Moroboshi, secretly a being from the Land of Light, who joins the Ultra Garrison (sometimes translated as Ultra Guard) to protect Earth from a steady stream of invaders and monsters. Arguably more popular than its predecessors, Ultraseven has spawned several spin-off TV specials, a straight-to-DVD continuation, and the reimagined TV series, Ultraseven X.

Both shows are available for streaming on Shout! Factory’s main site for free. The episodes themselves are sourced from Shout!’s previously released Ultra Q and Ultraseven DVD sets. These join Ultraman Leo, 80, Max, and Mebius available on Crunchyroll, and the original dubbed Ultraman on Hulu as the only Ultra Series available for streaming .

Shout! Factory’s Ultra Q and Ultraseven DVD sets are still currently available for purchase.
