Ultraman Manga Creators To Appear At San Diego Comic-Con 2015

Viz has announced that the creators of the reimagined Ultraman manga will be appearing at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con.

Created by Eiichi Shimizu and Tomohiro Shimoguchi (Linebarrels of Iron, Hybrid Insector), Ultraman is a heavily re-envisioned sequel to the original Ultraman television series. Several years after the defeat of Zetton, the world moves on but Ultraman himself fades into legend and distant memory. When new aliens and monsters appear, Shinjiro Hayata, son of former Ultraman host Shin Hayata, awakens to his inherent “Ultraman Factor”: a genetic trait granting him the powers needed to fight back. Given a new battlesuit by former Science Patrol member, Ide, Shinjiro protects humanity as the new Ultraman.

Coinciding with the release of the manga’s first volume by Viz, both Shimizu and Shimoguchi will be at San Diego Comic-Con for four signing sessions at the Viz Media booth from Thursday-Saturday. Fans attending will have the opportunity to buy a special $30 bundle containing an advance copy of the first volume of Ultraman with a special collectible Ultraman figure.

Additionally, Shimizu and Shimoguchi will host an informative panel regarding the impact of Ultraman and kaiju on pop culture. Featuring guests from Legendary Comics, the panel, “Viz Media Presents ULTRAMAN”, will be held on Friday, July 10th from 3-4PM in Room 23ABC.

Viz Media’s first volume of Ultraman goes on sale in both print and digital formats on August 18th. San Diego Comic-Con runs from July 9th-12th in San Diego, CA.
