The follow-up manga to Shotaro Ishinomori’s Henshin Ninja Arashi, Shadow Storm will finally be collected in print volumes starting this month.
The web manga, illustrated by Asagi Oga based on scripts from Hiroshi Izawa (Digimon Adventure: V-Tamer 01) , will see a physical publication starting next year. The series has been published online monthly since November of 2013. Set in modern times, the legendary ninjas Arashi and Hayate have awakened. Present day ninjas Oboru and Retsu are tasked with finding them, but they only discover Hayate who has amnesia. What is hiding in his past, what are the Incarnation Ninjas and what are the plans of the one behind it all?
Broadcast in 1972, Henshin Ninja Arashi was one of the forerunners of the Henshin Boom jump started by the popularity of Kamen Rider. After two follow-ups to the original manga by Shotaro Ishinomori and Ken Ishikawa (Getter Robo, Yakuza Weapon) respectively, elements of the show were integrated into Kamen Rider Hibiki. Namely, villains branded with the insignia of Arashi’s nemeses, the Blood Wheel Ninja Clan, in the movie Kamen Rider Hibiki and the Seven War Demons, a guest character in the TV series wearing armor fashioned after Arashi, and Hayate himself appearing in the Kamen Rider Hibiki spin-off novel.
Volume 1 of Henshin Ninja Arashi: Shadow Storm will be published on July 25th and is already up for pre-order on Amazon Japan.
