Summary of Zi-O SG Watcher: Vol.20

Bandai’s candy toy blog posted a new entry for Kamen Rider Zi-O, talking about SO-DO’s upcoming Mechanics wave, and SO-DO Kamen Rider Zi-O: RIDE 6.

The man in charge of candy toy development goes by D, and in honor of Zi-O, he has changed his usual nickname to Di-O.

Just before its release, Di-O shares photos of SO-DO Kamen Rider Zi-O EX: Zi-O Mechanics, which is a set of machines from the show. The main focus is the TimeMazine, which he believes is an overwhelmingly sized SO-DO figure. It features more articulation than the DX TimeMazine.

A notable feature on this figure is the head, which of course is a RideWatch. The face at the center has depth to it, rather than being a flat piece. Also, the front of the RideWatch is attached by a balljoint, allowing it to be positioned at different angles as a form of neck movement.

Included with the set are two additional RideWatch faces, with flat sculpts unlike the default face. There are three stickers to decide between for these two faces: OOO, Build, and Ex-Aid. While the OOO RideWatch was used in the show’s first display of alternate faces, Build and Ex-Aid were used more recently and use the weapons from their Rider Armors. Parts are included in order to attach said weapons to the TimeMazine’s forearm spikes.

Di-O has confirmed that while it is possible to store normal Zi-O inside, he hopes that you see it as a bonus gimmick since the TimeMazine functions better without a figure inside.

Lastly, Di-O shows off the bike mode.

Though he feels the parts count is worrisome, the set is split into 3 parts.

Also in the set is the RideStriker, the motorcycle used by both Zi-O and Geiz. Unlike the previous series, this is not being split into two items in the wave. It features a peghole on one side, allowing it to be attached to a display stand for action poses.

The set will be available January 14th.

“ArmorTime: CycloneJoker! W!”

RIDE 6 of SO-DO Kamen Rider Zi-O will include WArmor, based on Kamen Rider Double.

This form was seen in Kamen Rider Heisei Generations FOREVER, the movie that premiered in December 2018. The movie was considered a huge success.

WArmor features Gaia Memories for Double’s default form as shoulder armor, which makes use of Zi-O’s normal body.

Included with WArmor are a pair of hands for Zi-O to specifically replicate the “Now, it’s time to count up your crimes” pose associated with Kamen Rider Double. These somewhat resemble the hands used with Zi-O’s own pose, but with the fingers being more relaxed.

This will be the 4th item in RIDE 6. Di-O makes a point of clarifying that the armor goes with the normal Zi-O body, which will not be included with this wave – those who are interested in displaying all of the forms together will want to get an extra when they’re picking up parts of RIDE 5 near the end of January, which includes a body for use with GaimArmor.

With the reveal of RIDE 6, Di-O also lets us know that the full name of this wave is RIDE 6 Feat. Build. This means that there will be some bonus additions to SO-DO Kamen Rider Build included in Zi-O’s line.

Build Driver: “Rabbit! Dragon!”

Build: “The Law of Victory is set!!”

The Build inclusion in this wave is the main character in his RabbitDragon Form. This Trial Form of Build’s Gold Rabbit Fullbottle and Cross-Z’s Silver Dragon Fullbottle are from Kamen Rider Build’s final episode, a form that is only shown in CGI.

There are a few changes to the sticker choices from Build‘s SO-DO series. There will be stickers over the hip joints, stickers on the belt that are carried over from the Dai SO-DO set, and the front of the leg armor will be painted instead of requiring stickers. That said, the back of the leg armor still involves sticker application.

Although the SO-DO formula has changed with Zi-O, the figure will follow the same rules of articulation as SO-DO Kamen Rider Build – this mainly means that the hands aren’t swappable. The form also includes a display stand with the same design as the ones available in that line.

Lastly, the form will come with the Beat Closer, the weapon associated with Cross-Z. Di-O remarks that RabbitDragon Form certainly did not use this weapon, but felt it was worth including due to the consensus that it was not re-released often enough throughout the line, despite being used with many dragon-related form (ie: Great Cross-Z, KeyDragon Form, etc.).

These take up 7 and 8 in the wave, split in half like all of Build’s forms. Di-O also ends by remarking that there are still two things from Build to receive figures – his use of blue and red text suggests that these will be the forms seen in the Kamen Rider Cross-Z special coming out soon.

The next update will be January 20th.
