The upcoming Power Rangers film casts its fifth ranger and reveals familiar character names.
The Power Rangers film rounds out its main team with the casting of the Yellow Ranger. Filling the spot is Rebecca Gomez, a singer who performs under the name Becky G. In addition to her music career, Gomez has been acting since 2008, and has a recurring role in the popular drama, Empire. Gomez joins Red Ranger Dacre Montgomery, Black Ranger Ludi Lin, Pink Ranger Naomi Scott, and Blue Ranger RJ Cyler.
The official Power Rangers Twitter account also confirmed that the characters in the film will be new versions of the original Rangers from MMPR.

The Power Rangers film is currently being produced by Haim Saban, Brian Cassentini (of Saban Brands), and Allison Shearmur (Cinderella), with a script being written by X-Men: First Class and Thor writers Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz. The film is being directed by The Almanac director Dean Isrealite.
