Godzilla Falls To Second Place & Gaim/ToQger Holds Sixth In Japanese Cinema Rankings

This past weekend, Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno opened in theatres across Japan, knocking the new Godzilla movie off the number one spot.

The ranking for the dates of August 2nd & 3rd are as follows:

1. Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno (New entry)
2. Godzilla (fallen from first)
3. Maleficent (fallen from second)
4. Pocket Monsters: Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction (fallen from third)
5. Omoidasu No Mani (fallen from fourth)
6. Movie Version – Kamen Rider Gaim/Ressha Sentai ToQger THE MOVIE (same place)

The new Godzilla only held the first place in the rankings for one week, before going down to second after the opening of heavily publicised sequel of Rurouni Kenshin. The double feature of Kamen Rider Gaim/Ressha Sentai ToQger has stayed in the same spot as last week.
