Avataro Sentai Donbrothers and Kamen Rider Recognised at the 2022 Japan Toy Awards
The first robot toy for Avataro Sentai Donbrothers and the Kamen Rider series have both won awards in 2022’s Japan Toy Awards.
On June 14th, the Japan Toy Awards were held in Tokyo by the Japan Toys Association. A total of 295 products were submitted by 29 companies to be nominated. During this event, two awards were taken by Toei’s two biggest tokusatsu franchises.
Bandai’s DX Don Onitaijin toy, based on the mecha from the currently airing Avataro Sentai Donbrothers won the grand prize in the ‘character toy’ category. At a height of 36cm, this figure was designed with superior poseability to previous Sentai robot toys.
Meanwhile, the Kamen Rider series was selected for a special award, recognising the franchise’s contributions to the toy industry. Alongside Rider, Takara Tomy’s Tomica series was also selected for the special award.
