Second My Hero Academia Stage Play Starring Tokusatsu Alum Gets New Dates
Newest stage play based on the popular manga and anime will debut later this year after a series of delays due to COVID-19
After several delays due to coronavirus, the new stage show entitled My Hero Academia The Ultra Stage: A Real Hero (PLUS ULTRA Ver.) is set to debut this December. Based on the hit manga and anime by Kohei Horikoshi, the original run of the stage play ran in Spring of 2019 to sold-out performances. The follow-up production was delayed multiple times over the past year due to production members contracting the coronavirus. The new PLUS ULTRA Ver. of the show is said to add more characters and content than the original version of My Hero Academia The Ultra Stage: A Real Hero had planned. The new show will cover the introduction of the League of Villains and the fight against the hero-killer known as Stain.
Notably, two of the original cast have been updated for the new run. Naoki Takeshi will take over for Hiroki Ino as Tenya Iida. Yu Yoshioka will now portray All Might (True form), taking over for Tsuyoshi Hayashi (Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger). Hiroaki Iwanaga (Kamen Rider OOO, Space Sheriff Shaider NEXT GENERATION) will continue his role as All Might (Muscle version).
The returning cast includes Shin Tamura as Izuku Midoriya, Ryota Kobayashi as Bakugo Katsuki, Yume Takuchi as Ochako Uraraka, Ryo Kitamura as Shoto Todoroki, Mao Noguchi as Tsuyu Asui, Naoki Tanaka as Eijiro Kirishima, Yugo Sato as Denki Kaminari, Shinichi Hashimoto as Yuga Aoyama, Saaya Yamasaki as Momo Yaoyorozu, Nagato Akui as Minoru Mineta, Rin Matsubara as Fumikage Tokoyami, Raita as Tomura Shigaraki, Yusuke Seto as Eraserhead, Yūki Okamoto as Present Mic, and Yusuke Ueda as Endeavor.
New additions to the cast include Akari Kawakami as Kyoka Jiro, Shin Ikeda as Hanta Sero, Yume Nagatoshi as Mina Ashido, Bishin Kawasumi (Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters) as Stain, Yuta Osumi as Dabi, Anju Inami as Himiko Toga, Yusaku Kawasaki as Twice, Kosuke Yonehara as Gran Torino, Changhae as Best Jeanist, and Ami Kikuchi as Midnight.
The new dates for My Hero Academia The Ultra Stage: A Real Hero (PLUS ULTRA Ver.) are December 3 – 12 at Tokyo Dome City Hall and then December 24 – 26 in Kyoto. Each venue will adhere to strict guidelines for public health as outlined by the Japanese government.
