Mashin Sentai Kiramager and Kamen Rider Ghost actress Mio Kudo talks about Kamen Rider Kanon Specter, a pink Kamen Rider, which debuted in Kamen Rider Specter x Blades.
Is Kanon Specter what you imagined?
When I first heard about the film from the producer, I was told “Kanon, you’ll transform and come back.” So at first, I was like, “what do you mean, what’s going on?”
I’ve been saying I wanted to be a Kamen Rider ever since I appeared on Ghost. I’m very happy that I get to finally become one.
It’s exactly I imagined she would look if she transformed. The form is the same as her brother Makoto’s, and the coloring is white and pink, a feminine aesthetic. When I saw it for the first time, I thought it was really cool!
To tell you the truth, I didn’t really have anything pink until I played the role of Pink in Kiramager (laughs). But now when I open my bag, I find more pink items (laughs). I wear a lot of pink in my personal life now.
I was always short on time whenever it came to acting or handling interviews. In fact, whenever I was in an interview, I always asked Ryosuke Yamamoto and Hayato Isomura to help me out. This is just a joke but those two probably thought, “I don’t want to do interviews with her anymore” (laughs).
When I first appeared in Kiramager, I got a lot of comments that read “She just looks like Kanon to me.” I was happy to hear that so many people have loved her for so long, but there was a part of me that hurt for Sayo. I’ve been trying to change that for a year now, and now that I’m often seen as Saya, I’ve decided to play Kanon again, so I’ve been working on this movie so that the viewers will think that I’m back to being Kanon.
